Greenway Crossing's Director, Cynthia Walker, She brings 30 years of experience in child care and administration to the Greenway classroom. She is Montessori certified and strongly believes in the principles that she has utilized and developed over the years. Her goal is to provide the best educational experience possible within the Montessori community. Ms. Walker values and works toward an atmosphere of harmony and unity for all who are involved in the school. Her desire and motivation is for every child to have the opportunity to experience the benefits of a Montessori classroom. She believes passionately in the developmental value inherent in Montessori that affects the life of the children as well as that of their families. Her goal is to prepare every child for a better future.
Ariel Bohnsack,
Assistant Director, during her four years at Greenway, she has earned her Psychology Degree from Edgewood College and her Para Professional from Seton Institute. Growing up with five younger siblings, she knew very early on that her path in life was going to involve working with children. In 2008, she moved to Madison from her hometown of Warren, IL, she came to work at the school owned and operated by her grandmother, she is now a pivotal member of the Greenway family and has grown to love the Montessori Method. Ariel enjoys being a part of the Greenway family and the entire community of Madison Montessorians. She also, loves spending time with her large family and with her boyfriend, Zeus and their dog, Pepper.
Erika Ugalde, Spanish speaking Primary Spanish teacher, is from Mexico and lives on Madison’s east side with her husband and 2 children. Her daughter, Brittney, attends Greenway and will be entering the Elementary Program in the winter of 2012. Erika has been at Greenway since 2007. She started as a substitute in the primary program. After working for a short time as a sub, she started working full time under Ms. Cynthia in the Primary classroom. In the summer of 2010, she started her Montessori training with Wellspring Institute in Chicago, Illinois. Even on her own time, she enjoys expanding her knowledge and understanding of the methods of Montessori. When asked what she liked about teaching: “I like seeing the children learn from us and us, as educators, learning from them. “At Greenway we are a family and we believe in our director, Cynthia, and her vision for our school.
Kristene Bostetter, Office Manager, is a graduate from Herzing College in 2000 with a degree in electronics and computer technology and her Para Professional from Seton Institute. Kristene is the daughter of Greenway’s owner and director, Cynthia. She grew up with the Montessori classroom and loves the teachings of Maria Montessori. She loves how the methods of Maria have withstood the test of time. Methods that had meaning over 50 years ago still have a purpose and need in the modern classroom. Kristene’s son, Cheldyn, attended Greenway and her daughter, Sophia, is in the primary program. When asked what she liked most about Greenway: “I admire the way my mom helps bring so many cultures together in one common goal of educating children.”
Michi Schroeder, English speaking Pr-Primary teacher, attended school at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN for German and English Lit., has credits from MATC in early childhood education, and her Para Professional from Seton Institute. She is currently enrolled in UW Whitewater in Child Development Credential Courses. She enjoys seeing the “ah-ha” moments when the child gets a concept. Michi is an avid sewer, likes music and playing with her dog Hongo. She also enjoys her many trips to Mexico, and Europe and discovering new cultures. Mishi was drawn to Greenway because of the diversity of the school. When asked why she became a Montessorian: “The independence of the Montessori way makes children be and want to be.”
Aida “Gaby” Garcia, Bilingual Primary Teacher, is a native Mexican that is fluent both in Spanish and English. Gaby and her husband, Hector, have two children; Max in the Elementary Program and Sebasian in the Toddler Program. Gaby is very happy to have a professional career as a Montessori Teacher. Gaby received her early childhood education is from MATC and her Para Professional from Seton Institute. In the spring of 2011 she will complete her Montessori Head Teacher Training at Wellspring Institute in Chicago, Illinois. Currently she is going through her yearlong Practicum for 2011-12 school year. Gaby teaches Spanish in the Elementary Program and shares teaching the Extended Day Program for the Primary Students. When asked what she enjoys most about teaching at Greenway: “I just completely love sharing my Spanish language in the morning 3-5 Primary Classroom.
Gloria Trejo-Gonzalez,
Spanish speaking Infant teacher, was born in Temascalcingo, Mexico and studied at Santa Rosa Academy. She lives in Madison with her husband, Sergio, and their four children. Gloria attended MATC for a career in Child Care with an emphasis in Infants & Toddlers and her Para Professional from Seton Institute. She has been working in the Infant and Toddler Programs at Greenway Montessori School since March 2007and love the little ones. She enjoys sharing her Spanish language and culinary heritage. Gloria’s tamales are always a big hit on Family Nights at the school.
Venus Washington, English speaking Infant teacher, has been teaching for over 10 years and has been with Greenway for one year. Venus received a BA from UW Madison, where she enjoyed being on the track team. She is a USA T&F Coach Level I and ISSA certified Personal Trainer. Her two year old daughter, Madison, started attending Greenway when she was just a few months old. Venus loves to see her students develop throughout their many stages. She loves to workout, reading, and taking walks with her family. When asked what she liked most about working at Greenway: “That we are a family and a community.”
Mercedes Lloyd, English speaking Toddler teacher, graduated from Lafollette High School. She attended UW Whitewater in the precut of a degree in Social Work. Now she is attending school at MATC for early childhood education. She likes teaching children because they are like sponges and it is fun to see how much her teaching them has influenced them. When asked why she became a teacher: “My goal in teaching my young students is to give them the independence to be successful in their education and in life. It puts a joy in my heart to see the smiles on their faces when they walk in the door each morning. .”
Cecilia Victoria, Spanish speaking Pr-Primary teacher, is attending MATC for early childhood education and child development. She is also studying English. Cecilia is originally from Mexico and lives in Madison with her husband and children. Her two children, Andrea and David, attend Greenway in the Elementary Program. Her favorite thing to hear from her students is “I can do it”. This lets her know she is doing her job as a teacher. When asked what she liked about Greenway: “Everyone works together as a team towards the same goal.”
Maria Ramirez,
Spanish speaking Infant Teacher, has been teaching for 3 years. Maria is from Tlazcala, Mexico and is now living in Madison with her children and grandchildren. Maria is continuing her professional development in early childhood development at MATC. She is a Wisconsin Model of Early Learning Standards Member and has early childhood training. Maria loves working with children and learning new skills in the field of early childhood education to create a safe and happy environment for the children. When asked what she liked most about Greenway: "I like the diversity of the children and staff. I like how our Director, Cynthia, includes all of the staff in all aspects of the programs.
Dalia Gonzalez, Spanish speaking Primary Teacher, has been with Greenway for two years. She started as sub in many of the programs and as an assistant in the afternoon program. In the summer of 2010, she started her Montessori training with Wellspring Institute in Chicago, Illinois. Currently, she is going through her yearlong Practicum for 2011-12 school years. Dalia’s light-hearted personality brings a joy to the classroom. She loves to see the children grow from toddlers into independent children during their time with her.
Connie Moore, English speaking Pr-Primary teacher, received her BA from Carthage College in Physical Education. She came to Greenway looking for a place for her two children to attend school. After her oldest had attended school for a year and her youngest was just starting out at Greenway, she decided she wanted to become a part of the Greenway family. She is a gymnastics coach and likes yoga and spending time with her family. When asked what she liked about teaching at Greenway: “I like how the kids learn to be independent. They also have the chance to discover and develop their individual interests.
Sherelle Kimmons, English speaking Infant teacher, is a trained CNA and is taking online courses on child development. Her two children attend school at Greenway in the Pr-Primary and Elementary. She likes staying connected with my students and parents, teaching them skills to better serve them. She makes sure that her first goal in her role as a teacher is the child comes first. She likes to read, write, play with her girls when she is not at work.
Dianna Freeman, English speaking Toddler teacher, has credits form SAPAR School in early childhood eductation. Her two children attend school at Greenway, her daughter, Markesha is in the Elementary Program and Juelz is in the Pr-Primary Program. Dianna feels at home in the classroom and discovering each child’s own personality. When asked what she liked most about Greenway: “I like that we have both English and Spanish teachers in each classroom. We move at the pace of each child and not the entire class.”
Darius Payton,
English speaking afternoon teacher, is currently he is attending MATC for child development. Darius always makes sure to go around to each classroom to say “hello” and see how their day is going. When asked what he liked about Greenway: “Children have the chance to learn things in a very different way. They are not put into a cookie cutter stereotype.”
Gary Davis, English speaking Elementary Teacher’s Assistant, is currently working on his Human Service Degree. Gary worked as a lead counselor for a boy’s group home for 3 years. Gary is a father of two daughters and works also as a promoter on his time away from the school. When asked about the students in his class: “The students her also have a positive energy when it comes to learning.”
Launa Gomez, English speaking Elementary teacher, has her undergraduate degrees in Communication and Psychology and minored in World Religion. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Iowa. She has her Masters in Communication. She is an International Montessori Certified lower elementary teacher from NAMC North America Montessori Center. She has been a tutor for more than 25 years in Math, Science, Reading, Language Arts and Psychology. When asked about Greenway: “I am so lucky to be a proponent of Montessori mythologies. Our children choose their paths of interest. It’s a privilege to be associated with such great people.
